The Board of Directors

The Board is responsible for the regular business of the Society and for promoting the Society's aims. The Board may delegate to the Scientific Committee, or to the Programme Committee, the organisation of the Annual General Meeting, including the vetting of proffered papers, and is responsible for the content of the scientific sessions of the meeting, in collaboration with the local organiser and the chairman of the programme committee. The social aspects of the Annual General Meeting are approved by the Board in collaboration with the local organiser.

The Board consists of:

  • President, elected for three years, who assumes that office immediately after the welcoming address at the opening ceremony of the relevant Annual Meeting.
  • President-Elect, who is elected two years before taking office, and is a member of the Board for the two years before taking office.
  • Past-President, remains on the Board for one year after completion of office.
  • Secretary General, elected for three years and eligible for re-election of one three-year term.
  • Treasurer, elected for three years and eligible for re-election of one three-year term.
  • Local organiser of next Annual Meeting. On the Board for 1 year only.

The Board administers the affairs of the Society, in accordance with the constitution and by-laws of the Society, and subject to general policy established by the membership. The Board meets at least twice a year to deal with running of the Society and generate new ideas in the field of paediatric oncology. Directly answerable to the Board are the Scientific Committee; the Programme Committee; the Publications Committee; the PODC Committee; any ad-hoc committees established by the Board.
