Why support SIOP?

"I’m sorry. You’ve got cancer."

In those five words lives are shattered. A child, somewhere, hears those words every three minutes.
Childhood cancer is an avoidable tragedy. For every statistic you hear or read, remember that behind the numbers lie the shattered lives of families and loved ones. Each year, more than 160,000 children worldwide are diagnosed with cancer while an estimated 90,000 die from the disease[1]. Every child who needlessly dies of cancer leaves behind loving families, friends and indeed the doctors and nurses who do so much to care for them.
Thanks to advances in the field of childhood cancer up to 70% of childhood cancer is now curable. But for children with cancer where you are born matters most. Over 80% of the world’s children are born in countries with little to no access to the best modern therapy[2].

For tomorrow’s child your donation will make a difference

Through "train the trainer" initiatives in India and by adapting treatment standards in Malawi for Burkitt's lymphoma, SIOP members are starting a bright future for children with cancer.
But more can be done. By supporting SIOP, you join the fight for a future where no child dies of cancer. Thank you for your support – we look forward to working with you to fight child cancer. You make the difference.
