Advocacy

The Board/Council has decided to constitute two task forces with a tenure of 3 years :

Advocacy Task Force ( ATF ) :
They will play an important role to realise 2 of the mission statements of SIOP. ATF is constituted for ensuring that each child and young adult with cancer has access to state of the art treatment and care; and to support those caring for children and young adults with cancer to provide the best curative and palliative therapies. The members of the ATF are :

  • Scott MacFarlane, Oceania / Australasia
  • Marcelo Scopinaro, South America
  • Kate Matthay, North America
  • Patti Byron, North America

 

Education and Training Task Force ( ETTF ) :
is constituted for facilitating professional development , developing ‘Best Practice Guidelines’, instituting fellowships and scholarships, setting accreditation criteria for PCU’s , promoting twinning programs, creating a platform for young people within SIOP etc. It will have an advisory role at the annual congress together with LOC and Scientific Committee to develop the education components of the congress. It will be made up of 6 deputies of all Continental Presidents from their continents who have an interest in education, Chair of the nurse’s group, and the Secretary General of SIOP( chair of the task force) together with the Chair of the Scientific Committee.The members of the ETTF are :
